Stakeholders, Customers and Shareholders Converge at Reddit
It's refreshing to see a company focusing on customers and investors together, as Reddit, Inc. is doing by including 75,000 of its heaviest "users" as primary investors in its IPO. High value and loyal customers are valuable advocates, just as owners (i.e., shareholders) should be. Equating the two is something that I've proposed to a number of public companies though there is always an excuse as to why they say no.
It says a lot about a company's leadership when they value customers and stakeholders, including shareholders, strategically. An example like Reddit's is indicative of the upside that customer and stakeholder loyalty has as a core business strategy.
